This is a fun dance song I wrote one day, after listening to Colin James for a couple of hours.
This one moves along at a good pace and you can sing along as well. Love Buddy McCann’s harp solo on this track and the boy’s in the band are movin’ along.

Sugar Bee
We were drivin’ down the road, Last Saturday night
I have the prettiest little girl, there by my side
Headin’ to the club, Gonna dance the night away
I’m gonna love you all I can, all night and day

Sugar B, Sugar B
Sugar B, Sugar B
Come to me, Come to me
Sugar B, Sugar B

Hang on girl, it’s time to go
We’ve got to catch the ferry, to get to Quyon
It won’t be long, Till the sun comes up
Another tank of gas and some, Lovey dove

Sugar B, Sugar B
Sugar B, Sugar B
Come to me, Come to me
Sugar B, Sugar B

We’re lovin’ each other on this highway
No one tellin’ us what to do, No one can take it away
We can’t stop now, We can’t let go
We’ll just tumble in the grass, by the side of the road

Sugar B, Sugar B
Sugar B, Sugar B
Come to me, Come to me
Sugar B, Sugar B

I wrote this song in June 2017 and new it had to be on this record. The chorus just came out of me one night while playing around a bit. It’s not your typical love song. It’s a rockin’ number written from a releif point of view. The boy’s are rockin’ on this track. Rod’s bass track and John’s guitar track move you fluidly through the track.

Whole Lot Better
You only tell me things are true
That’s why you do the things you do
Don’t understand the reason why
Now I no longer have to try

I feel a whole lot better, Since you went away
Life is all about livin’ now
And I’m steering right away
I feel a whole better, I’m feelin’ fine
I’m a ramblin’ & a gamblin’
All the day long night

I start a new life here today
Now that you stopped preyin’ on my mind
You started wonderin’ way out loud
Now I no longer have that cloud

I feel a whole lot better, Since you went away
Life is all about livin’ now
And I’m steering right away
I feel a whole better, I’m feelin’ fine
I’m a ramblin’ & a gamblin’
All the day long night

I feel a whole better,
I feel a whole better,
I feel a whole better,
I feel a whole better

This is a song I wrote after a golf trip up in the Calabogie/Renfrew area with my good friends Eric Craig, Bill James and Doug Flowers. Over the course of the three golf rounds I kept hearing the following. “I have a birdie try” and then “I took a bogey, Doh!” I wrote the song within days of getting back from the trip. We like to play out at Greensmere during the golf season, so I’m tipping my hat to Nathan, Tyler and the good folks who maintain golf courses everywhere for us golfers. Rod, John and I record a harmony track live together on this one and it was magic. I hope you like it.

Birdie To Bogey Blues
I was playing a round the other day, Out at Greensmere, it’s where I like to play
The sun was shinning high up in the sky, There was narly a breeze blowin’ by
I hit a great shot into number two, I was wondering what I needed to do
Then I hit one long, I hit one short, Singing the birdie to bogey blues

I was lookin’ at birdie, Now I’m takin’ bogey
As I walk along this fairway
I was lookin’ at birdie, Now I’m takin’ bogey
How many times have I heard them say, Your still away

Bill was ready to take his second shot, He left the ball about eight feet from the cup
Then Eric said watch this, He hit one 140, Right off the pin
They proceeded to prepare their birdie putt
Good old Murphy kicked them, right in the nuts
Marked their three putt down, Stomped their feet on the ground
Singing the birdie to bogey blues

I was lookin’ at birdie, Now I’m takin’ bogey
As I walk along this fairway
I was lookin’ at birdie, Now I’m takin’ bogey
How many times have I heard them say, Your still away

I was lookin’ at birdie, I’m takin’ bogey
I was lookin’ at birdie, I’m takin’ bogey

Lookin’ at birdie, Takin bogie
Lookin’ at birdie, Takin bogie

This is a love song.
Just love the harp solo on this one. Great job Buddy McCann.

Loving You, Takes My Breath Away
Oh baby, holdin’ you real tight
Sometimes I wonder
What my life would be like
Without you baby
There’s not much left of me
Loving you, Takes my breath away

It’s been a long time
Since we met that May
Down By the river
Where we walked and talked all day
And though we’re older
You really haven’t changed
Loving you, Takes my breath away

In the morning when I wake up
I have to stop, hold you again
And in the evening when it’s over
We take a walk, Hand in hand

So I tell you, As we dance here tonight
Here with you, Makes everything alright
Out in the ocean, Or laying by the bay
Loving you, Takes my breath away
Loving you, Takes my breath away

This is a song I wrote about growing up.
I was 24 years old at the time, trying to figure things out. Love John’s ghostly lead, just beautiful.

Sunset Suprise
About the time I turned 16, I had a head full of all these dreams
Wanderin’ and a searchin’, which way I should turn
I wasn’t much, for school or books, I use to hate that teacher look
Me and the boy’s would drive out in the sun
Like a band on the run

Got a job, in an old garage, Did what I could, To raise some cash
Bought a car and paid my way
Then things got turned around, I was loosing what I had found
Then the man turned and said Look what you’ve done
Welcome son, It’s all come undone

Monday morning, I go to work
Monday night, I lay in bed
By the time it’s Friday, I got silly things in my head
I wanna go and shoot some pool, I wanna break, all the rules
Smokin’ and a drinkin’ and a having me a real good time
Some ask me why And
I just smile

Sunset Surprise,
Sunset Surprise,
Sunset Surprise,
Sunset Surprise

For all you retirees out there. Everyone had fun with this track. Al Bragg is featured playing pedal steel on this track. Beauty.

Workin’ Hard At Hardly Workin’
I’m working hard at hardly working
Living life, day by day
I aint going back, no not for nothing
I’m working hard at hardly working everyday

Worked real hard, for 40 years now
Paid my dues, did my time
I never was, all that lazy
But now a days, I’m doing what I’m doing
All down the line

I’m working hard at hardly working
Living life, day by day
I aint going back, no not for nothing
I’m working hard at hardly working everyday

The love of my life, is here beside me
Always there, through thick and thin
We’re on this road, of life together
Throw off your coat, kick off your boots
And come on in

I’m working hard at hardly working
Living life, day by day
I aint going back, no not for nothing
I’m working hard at hardly working everyday
I’m working hard at hardly working everyday

Here’s a traditional country love song. Enjoy.

Want More Love
Want more love in the morning, Want more love in the night
Want more love when I see you, Want more love
Want more love for us to share, Want more love for you and I
Want our love to last forever, Want more love

When I see you in the morning
I can’t believe my eyes
You lay there so softly
Like a little baby child
You can smell the morning coffee
You can see the break of day
When I sit down to the table
I look to her and say

Want more love in the morning, Want more love in the night
Want more love when I see you, Want more love
Want more love for us to share, Want more love for you and I
Want our love to last forever, Want more love

Well they say that in your lifetime
That you will find someone
And you’ll know it when you find her
Cause your heart will come undone
You will feel you’ve climbed a mountain
That no one else can climb
And be there by her side
Until the end of time

Want more love in the morning, Want more love in the night
Want more love when I see you, Want more love
Want more love for us to share, Want more love for you and I
Want our love to last forever, Want more love

I’m not sure where this song came from. It just started writing itself one day. John laid down some amazing licks on this track.

Take A Piece Of My Heart

At times, Maybe sometimes
I think about her
How she swore, she’d be there for me
When I got home, It didn’t matter
Love songs, Love lies, Is not what I need

Take a piece of my heart, Throw it on the floor
Nothing really matters, In a box in a drawer
Take a piece of my heart, All that’s left of our love
Is laying at the door

Today is the day, We were to marry
Last night, the bottle hit the floor, before me
Drinking is harder than I remember
Thinking won’t never ever, Let me be

Take a piece of my heart, Throw it on the floor
Nothing really matters, In a box in a drawer
Take a piece of my heart, All that’s left of our love
Is laying at the door

Nothing else matters, At least for today
You climb up the ladder, They take it away

Well, Take a piece of my heart, Throw it on the floor
Nothing really matters, In a box in a drawer
Take a piece of my heart, All that’s left of our love
Is laying at the door

This song has many meanings to me. There are many emotions going through this song. Looking back I think I wrote it to honour all those who write, record, rehearse/practice, play live gig’s, set-up/tear down, drive through crazy weather in order to do what they truly love doing.
The cost could be many things but you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Restless Writer
Hey Restless Writer
When will you make yourself a name
You’ve been pounding that old six string
Playing your music, your own way

Love and loneliness
Seem to run in the same vein
Couldn’t give up, if you tried
Someone wants to hear you play

Hey Restless Writer
Don’t you ever stop
Hey Restless Writer
Don’t you give it up, Don’t you give it up

Feelin’ low and wasted
I guess it’s part of the deal
Long nights, In countless places
Some do know, How you feel

Don’t ever, Give up writing
It’s what makes this world go round
It helps you escape it
This world, turned upside down

Hey Restless Writer
Don’t you ever stop
Hey Restless Writer
Don’t you give it up, Don’t you give it up

I had to write it. Nuff said.

There’s Two Sides To The Story
& Then There’s The Truth

There’s Two Sides To The Story, And Then There’s The Truth
Never knowing what to believe, Who broke the story to you
Spillin’ out half truths about what’s been on your mind
There’s Two Sides To The Story, And Then There’s The Truth

Most reporters aren’t what they, use to be
They use to have them some morals, And integrity
A lot of people out there believe, Everything they say
They do have an agenda, That’s how they spend their day

There’s Two Sides To The Story, And Then There’s The Truth
Never knowing what to believe, Who broke the story to you
Spillin’ out half truths about what’s been on your mind
There’s Two Sides To The Story, And Then There’s The Truth

There are some politicians in this land
Who think that we don’t know, But we understand
It’s time we all stood up, and let them know
That we’re not gonna take it anymore

There’s Two Sides To The Story, And Then There’s The Truth
Never knowing what to believe, Who broke the story to you
Spillin’ out half truths about what’s been on your mind
There’s Two Sides To The Story, And Then There’s The Truth
There’s Two Sides To The Story,
Two Sides To The Story,
Two Sides To The Story,
And Then There’s The Truth
